Need a new dishwasher: Miele vs Bosch

I really need to make a decision and buy a dishwasher for my new kitchen but I'm struggling between whether to go bottom end Miele (top end of my budget!) or a Bosch. Any opinions?

Possible models are

I've never had a dishwasher before, I am extremely excited and I don't want to get a duff one!

Bosh everytime. we only have bosh appliances. Always their bog standard bottom of range. both dishwasher and washing machine been going over ten years.

DH is voting Bosch but I'm not that pleased with our Bosch washing machine. The first one had to be replaced just before the warranty ran out because of a problem with the drum and I think the replacement (diff model) is going the same way, so its put me off a bit.

The cheaper price may sway me though!

Both Bosch & Miele have a good reputation for reliability so you won't go far wrong with either.

My own preference with appliances is to go for a basic model of a good brand as there is less to go wrong if there are fewer bells & whistles, and most people only use one or two programmes anyway.

My last dishwasher was a Bosch which was problem free until it finally gave up the ghost after 18 years. I replaced it with another Bosch which I'm very happy with as well.

I admit I'd probably have preferred a Miele but couldn't get one in my price range.

I narrowed it down to Bosh or Miele too, in the end I went with Miele because for the same price I got 5 years parts and labor warranty thrown in. Also the Miele was all metal inside, the Bosh had a plastic bottom (this was a small issue tbh) and the guy in the shop told me that all metal was better.

Miele, always for dishwashers, washing machines and dryers.

GertrudeBell · 07/03/2015 19:58

I have just swapped my Miele dishwasher for a Neff.

The Neff is SO much better than the Miele ever was. I never realised that it was possible for things to come out so squeaky clean.

We had the full Miele set. The dishwasher was ok, but we had problems with the hob, oven and tumble drier from the getgo. Only the washing machine and microwave lived up to their reputation.

We wouldn't waste our money on Miele again.

Chottie · 07/03/2015 19:59

I have a Miele oven, D/W, W/M and T/D and have been really pleased with all of them.

We are a busy family of four and have all Bosch appliances (fridge freezer, chest freezer, washing machine, tumble drier and dishwasher) They vary in age from 5-8 years old. We have never had a single issue with any of them and we live in a very hard water area and don't protect against this

mashpot · 07/03/2015 20:39

I have gone for the Miele, I hope I don't regret it! Just had the dishwasher convo with a friend who is also kitchen renovating and she's gone Neff. I'll compare notes in a couple of months!

I'm sure you won't regret it. We bought a Miele last week and the difference is amazing. Before that we had a Bosch and it was rubbish. The Miele cleans much better, has much more space and therefore isn't needing to go on so often because it fits so much more in it, thereby saving money on running costs. The Bosch only lasted 5 years which was disappointing.

My Bosh WM recently died after only 4 years and I have replaced with a Samsung (a Which? best Buy). I am disillusioned with the Bosch brand, having expected a longer life given cheapie Hotpoint WMs I have had in the past have done 6/7 years each.
I have a Siemens dishwasher which is 3 years old, was a Which? best buy at the time and which has been great, no issues.
Will need a new fridge freezer soon and will not be considering Bosch at all, probably Samsung or Siemens. HTH Smile

Allofaflumble · 10/03/2015 23:21

I bought a Beko slimline dishwasher and it has been fantastic. Very similar in build to the Bosch. It was only £200.

gillviola · 11/03/2015 20:33

Miele every time - brilliant!

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/03/2015 19:44

My miele vacuums rubbish, I'm disillusioned with the brand.

My next Dw will be bosch.

Hook it up to the hot water op, it'll cost less to run.
