Suitcases in garage

Does anyone store suitcases in their garage - looking for a new home for them and the garage would be perfect but worried they'll get damp.

If you live in a house, copy my Dutch friend and have a shelf affair built across near the top of the stairs. Make it above head height to be out of the way of anyone climbing then they can be reached from the landing using wasted space, no possible damp problems.

My dh built another shelf at the top of the linen cupboard & that's where the suit cases are stored. It's just a load of dead space at the top & too high up to reach sheets but perfect to store seasonal items.

I also put a tumble dryer sheet inside the case to keep it smelling fresh & leave a small gap open for air circulation.

You could wrap them in large black bin liners. We did that with our large travel cot and buggy (separate bags). We got them out last week to pass on to a friend, and they are perfectly dry.

I've had 2 buggies go mouldy in a garage so I wouldn't attempt it here, but yours might be better.
