How in the name of all that's holy do you keep on top of laundry?

I've just moved house and I'm delighted that the central heating here is so new and efficient that I can get all my laundry dried on radiators. But I'm still stuck in a neverending loop of washing and drying.

It doesn't help that we're still living out of boxes, but today the last should be unpacked. Once that's done I have no more excuses and I have to accept that it's laundry groundhog day.

How do you do it? What's the secret?

Three bags in utility room - white, colours and darks, plus a wee tub for stuff to be washed without softner. It usually gets chucked in with another wash and just forgo softner on that wash.

I put mine on at tea time and hang out before bed in bathroom with dehumidifier on.
Only exception is cloth nappies which go on a wash overnight. They are washed every 2-4 nights depending on how many she's gone through. Trying to fit those into a regular routine would be a pita.

Data I (well, not I personally, our wonderful ironing lady) irons everything. Sheets, pillow cases, duvet covers (ours and DC), jeans (but doesn't iron creases into them, thank god), shirts, polo shirts, t shirts, pyjamas etc. I love everything looking smart and crisp.

She irons cottons by spraying them with an amazing spray called easy iron, which speeds things up a lot and makes them look even better.

I agree though that school uniform does not need to be ioroned (save for school shirts and school polo shirts). I have perfected the art of hanging school jumpers, sweatshirts, tracksuit bottoms and trousers on the clothes airer so that they dry flat and pretty much crease free.
