In my DW it has a rounded triangle looking cap, you undo that and fill that up with the salt. you should have a funnel to help you pour the salt into it. The water in there will come out as you put the salt so dont worry that its full of water, it is suppose to have water in there. the water goes in and small amounts of salf water will be added to the wash cycle

No don't just lob it in . There willbe a bit to pu it check your manuel. if you don't hav it quite often they can be found online.
