Want to get my washing machine draw clean. Tried a toothbrush but doesn't quite get where I want.

Bottle brush, cotton buds, or folded kitchen paper.

What about a fine paintbrush? I use them sometimes to dust ornaments with nooks and crannies.

I have used DD's paintbrushes for the washing machines drawer. No you pull it out completely and run under the tap as well?

Lonz · 27/02/2015 15:54

Give it a poke around, rinse it under the tap. Then douse it with Cillit Bang for a bit. Mine looked the whitest I could get it after.

Soaking does the trick. Just fast hot water can take off the gunk after a good soak.

Sorry I meant the bit it sits in. The tray comes out so that's ok but the inside where it sits is manky. I've got most of it clean but there's still some black bits in there

OP - this one I would love to hear solutions to. Bren struggling for years! Grin

I've seen some battery operated brushes on ebay so might try those. Will let you know!

I stopped using fabric conditioner and now put my detergent directly in the drum to stop the draw getting gunked up and black. I also stopped using washing powder and use liquid instead which stops my drain getting clogged up with lumps of un dissolved powder.

I think using soda crystals with my whites helps keep everything ship shape too, which I do put in the drawer.

But a small bottle brush should do it.

Thanks for those tips Grin
