tempur or other memory foam mattress?

we're getting a new mattress and dh loves tempur after sleeping on one a few months ago!

dh has v physical job so hoping this will help him with his back. is it the case that the firmer the better for aching backs?

any recommendations? is it worth splashing out on tempur or are other brands just as good?

thank you Smile

I have no experience of other brands but my tempur mattress is amazing. It was expensive but I have suffered for years with back problems and it is by far the best mattress I've tried. I also have a tempur pillow. Even the memory foam toppers you can buy cause backache for me. I would definitely recommend tempur mattresses!

Have you considered a water bed?

We got a hypnia. memory foam, 10 yr guarantee and I love it. and it's had a lot of use through pregnancy and baby years.

We love our Tempur mattress! 15 year guarantee; we've had it for 16 years and it's still fine. The only problem is it gets quite hot. You can get them now with stay-cool tops and I would go for that next time.

We got ours from memory-mattress.co.uk
Great customer service. Its helped with DH's aches and pains, wouldn't go back to an ordinary one

I had one which I loved for about 10 years and it was already a few years old as my parents gave it as a hand-me-down, to us. So they do last a long, long time and stay so comfy.

The only thing I will say is they get a bit warm if you're on them too long. So if its Summer and you are on them more than 8 hours you'll feel a bit too hot. Never a problem if you live in a very cold house, though.

We've got a magniflex memory foam mattress from Qvc. It's fabulous, and is reversible with different levels of support on either side, along with a stay cool, zip off dry cleanable cover. Expensive, but amazing.
