best vacuum cleaner?

sorry I'm sure this has been asked a million times before, but I don't know where to start! too much choice

we need a new vacuum. always used dyson and v happy with it but reading on here it seems people think there are much better vacuums?

willing to spend on a good vacuum. we don't have pets but baby on the way. dh would prefer cylinder to upright (he does the hoovering )
