Does anyone know how to get a burn mark off the bottom of a Le Creuset pan?

I don't want to damage the surface.

Try boiling some water with a scoop of biological washing powder in it, in the pan (assume you mean the burn is inside the pan?)

La Creuset/Elizabeth David shops sell bottles of pan cleaner that works really well. Otherwise a Lady maid scourer is what they recommend - you can get them in their shops or John Lewis.

When this happens to me, I fill it with hot water and put a diswasher tablet in it.

I think soda crystals are meant to be pretty good for this sort of thing.

How did you do it though? I find my (one and only) Le Creuset indestructible! Although dh has had a few near misses.

I had a really bad burn mark in one a few years ago (I forgot about it boiling and it burnt dry). Couldn't get it out at the time but over the years it has really faded.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I will try the soda crystals first. It was a wedding present and my favourite pan so I hope I can save it.

MP - I left the pan on the hob whilst it was waiting to be washed - it had a very fine layer of ratatouille coating it - DH put the wrong hob on to cook something and accidently burnt the remains on to the pan. I got the burnt bits off with soaking but a dark burnt mark is left.

I think I must be the only person who read the title of this to be "bum mark".

KB a bum mark would probably be easier to remove
