Help - black top I'm with whites

Any tips for a washing disaster? I sorted a load of washing last night in the washing machine to turn on this morning, it was a white wash that included my son's white and red stripe cotton jumper from the White Company. Unbeknown to me my husband chucked a new black t-shirt in. I turned the machine on and my sons lovely jumper has come out with red and grey stripes. Im gutted, is there any chance I can get the white stripes back?

Hmm... Maybe someone with more experience will come along. This is so annoying isn't it. I put a tiny baby top with a bright pink flower on it in with a white wash. The wash had bleach in it, so everything came out pale pink (DH looked very fetching in pale pink pants Grin). I put everything back in the wash with lots of laundry bleach (and no pink flowers!!) and it sort of helped. Over time, the whites were back to white. But this was after many washes and I had to resign most items to pj and wash day status. Maybe vanish might do the trick? Or maybe there's a specific product?

I've picked up some Vanish today - the whiter than whites one. Going to try soaking for a few hours and see what happens. Thanks for the reply - it is soooo frustrating!!

How did you get on? Did the vanish soak work?

you can buy colour run removers at the supermarket - they are with the other clothes washing stuff
