Cleaners - what's the hourly rate ?

I'm in London and have been paying £8 for a while now (agreed when I took on the cleaner). She's great and I want to give her a pay rise. Should i go for £8.50, or is £9 more the going rate now ? She works for 10hrs pw, spread over 2 days, plus I give her £4pw petrol money.

Thanks!

you sound very generous!

hope you get it sorted, haven't a clue myself but someone else might!

I pay 7.25 an hour in London
I certainly wouldn't pay for petrol

How many hours do you think i would need someone for to clean through biggish 3 bed semi with 2 bathrooms and large conservatory ? Was thinking 3 hours ?

TheBlonde · 22/10/2006 12:55

I have 4 hrs for a 4 bed/2 bath terrace

mooshy · 22/10/2006 13:00

Thats about £120 + a month.
I think that might be a good idea once dc 3 started school as wont be paying out hundreds in childcare-mind you 3 hours would be ok then by the sound of it.

Depends how much dusting etc you need doing
Mine has to wash the floors after vacuuming as we don't have carpet
