Oh I saw that on Perfect Housewife, I might give it a go!

MrsSpoon · 18/10/2006 16:22

Where to you get Borax? I wanted to give her all purpose cleaner a go but it contains Borax too.

They sell borax in Boots.

Bozza · 18/10/2006 16:31

I hae just made furniture polish out of olive oil, white vinegar and lavendar essential oil and water. Only problem is that it seperates so keep needing to shake it.

spiderplant · 18/10/2006 16:33

oh that sounds good Bozza..
how much of each?

spiderplant · 18/10/2006 16:45

and I take it you need a spray bottle?

MrsSpoon · 18/10/2006 21:41

Thanks Bozza and spiderplant, I'll try Boots first and if they don't have it I'll go to summernaturals.

Bozza · 19/10/2006 08:54

In boots it is in with the laundry stuff and water filters etc.

I go the recipe off the net somewhere. I think it was 100 ml olive oil (makes me wonder if it is really cheaper than polish because oo is not cheap), 200ml white vinegar, lavendar (or whatever) essential oil and water. Well some of the sites said a quart of water (2 pts), some didn't bother adding water at all. Also you can use lemon juice instead of vinegar. I had an empty spray bottle of Sunsilk hair detangler so I peeled the labels off and wrote on it with marker pen. Not really tested it out much yet - other than on the kitchen table which was the closest thing to hand.

Ah thank you bozza, I might try that....I wonder if vegetable oil works????? (cheap skate I know )

Good luck MrsSpoon

spiderplant I am not sure. But half the reason for my doing it is to save money. I am using the general purpose cleaner (posted by expat) in the kitchen and bathrooms. And I used to use those floor wipes on a swiffer mop type thing, but have cut up an old tea towel to the right size. I am still using toilet cleaner though.
