Hi All

I'm rather new to mumsnet and this is my first post!!

Would anyone out there be able to give me an honest idea of the running costs of a 4 oven 13 amp aga???!!!! I'm so undecided as I don't won't to end up with astronomical electric bills!!

Thanks in advance!

No idea about the cost but I love mine. Gas bill has gone down massively with it but elec gone up. Ours is known as the family pet and being able to sit in front with feet up in this weather is brill.

A friend in Northumberland told me it was £25 a week four years ago? She had electric four oven. I think you have to take into account whether the rest of your heating bills will go up or down as a result of having an aga in the kitchen. Tbh we still have to run the central heating (have gas 2 door) but it doesn't need to come on so early in the morning or stay on late in evening as there is always somewhere warm to huddle. Certainly in the spring we have the heating on far less as result of the aga keeping kitchen and hall and stairwell nice and warm.

But I wouldn't say it was economical or ecofriendly to have an aga. But then I use my car very little so I slightly offset the eco-damage in that way.

I have a 4 oven gas aga- 8 years old. My gas/electric bill is almost £4k of which at least £1200 is the age- at least
