Essential oils and plastic bottles

I wasn't sure whether to put this in 'health' or here. But anyway... DD has nits, and as well as treating them I was considering adding some tea tree oil to the detangling conditioner spray we use on her - it's the L'Oreal 'Tangle Tamer' in the green bottle . But I wasn't sure firstly if it was going to be OK to add some essential oils to it (might it 'melt' the bottle? Or would it be too weak a solution to do any harm to it?) and if it was likely to be OK to just add, how much I should add. Anybody tried this?

Essential oils wont bind with water very well, it will kind of float on the top in globules a while after shaking it.
Diluted oils are fine in plastic, but should be stored in glass bottles.
Sorry I havn't a clue whether it will mix well with the tangle tamer.
What about Tea tree shampoo?

Thanks Wisp - yes I'll probably buy some tea tree shampoo. I was just thinking that I've got the tangle tamer stuff, and I've got some tea tree oil, so I might give it a go, and remember to give it a good shake before use.
