soft toys can be washed and tumbled. Tie anything small or delicate in a pillowcase first.

I would try washing everything, before you chuck it, it may be OK to keep.

Look in your bedding and clothes drawers too

I think you will need a plastic "pirates chest" or crate with secure lid.

And lots of small dishes of bait, especially under furniture and kitchen units where it is out of sight or reach. Fill them daily until they stay full.

Get some small plastic storage boxes, go through your kitchen cupboards, wash or sponge everything, and when dry put in in the crates. Put lots of baits in and under all the kitchen units, even the ones with no food in them. I use small red flower-pot saucers and write "mouse bait" on them with permanent marker. Also put them in the loft. Buy the large plastic bottle of bait, the ones marked rat bait are the same thing but in larger quantities so better value. Hardware and DIY and garden shops sell it.

Have a look round and under the sink for gaps around pipes and in floorboards where the mice are getting in.

Hard plastic toys do well in the dishwasher.

Stuff like Lego can be put in a pillowcase and through the washing machine.
