What jobs for fortnightly cleaner?

I'm trying to find a cleaner for when I go back to work but think we can only afford someone for 3-4 hours every other week. Can anyone suggest what jobs I should be getting them to do in that short space of time that would mean the least amount of housework for us in between? Both DH & I work 12 hour days so want to spend as much free time with DS, besides, I hate doing housework .

Obviously we'd keep the house tidy, plus change the beds & do all the washing & washing-up, but otherwise I'm not sure what is a sensible list of duties in the time?

If it helps, we live in a small 3 bed semi, 1 bathroom, average size kitchen, wood floors downstairs & carpet upstairs.

Any thoughts?

I would say things like wiping skirting boards and dusting shelves, corners and light fittings. Maybe giving the kitchen and bathroom as well as their floors a really good clean. Hoovering under the sofas and beds. Making sure there's no mucky mitt prints on light switches or cupboard doors. The behind the scenes sort of stuff that is not part of everyday tidy up/wiping/hoovering life.

Could you not do 2 hours a week instead?

Then you could get all floors hoovered/ wiped down. All the surfaces dusted and the bathroom and kitchen decently cleaned.

Then you could do the bigger/ more in depth stuff like washing woodwork, cleaning fridge etc every month or so, but not have to do much each week.

i have a cleaning company and we do a couple of houses each fortnight. The clients leave a list for the cleaners of the jobs they would like them to tackle at that visit. The client buys the hours and I supply the workers for them

i live in a 3 bd 2 reception, kichen d/s loo and bathroom. i had a cleaner come in once a fortnight and she did everything.Gave the house a good going over and i would occasionally ask her to clean fridge/windows etc and to leave our bedroom or sitting room.it worked really well and i only wish i could still afford "our gem".leaving notes was useful.
