Soda crystals or vanish white

Which is the best to keep my new white bedding white?

they do different jobs. Soda crystals act as a water softener and degreaser whereas the vanish white will act as a whitener/brightener

I always used vanish and now use soda crystals as it does the job for a fraction of the price and I can use it for all sorts of other things esp when mixed with white vinegar.
