Random problem but hoping someone here can help....

Went away for Christmas and let the aga go out. Unfortunately, we now can't get the feeder plug out to light it again. It is jammed solid. Any advice? We have tried heating the hotplate with an iron and then tipping cold water on the plug but it is not budging at all. Help!!!!

An ice pack to contract the part that won't open? Or ring Aga for advice.

Thanks - just struggling to get the hotplate hot enough for an ice pack to work on the plug. Might try lighting the aga by squeezing some Phurnacite and kindling through the gap by the grate......

Aga don't deal with solid fuel anymore so no use. Will try the agafix spares company but they're shut till Monday.

Problem solved! In the very unlikely event someone else finds themselves in the same situation.......

Managed to get a small fire going via the method above (plus a few firelighters) and eventually it got hot enough for ice cubes on the plug to work (with a bit of brute force from DH).

(P.S. An engineer from an aga shop suggested spraying with WD40 and leaving for an hour or so but that didn't work)
