Recommendation for Carpet Sweeper thingy?

Twohootsandapumpkin · 12/10/2006 13:51

Would like one of these (currently have a swivel sweeper and it's useless - was good to start with). Someone on another post mentioned a GTECH one. Anyone use one that they think is good/would recommend.

I'd use it mainly for stairs and getting crumbs/food debris off floors from DD.

TIA

PS - See someone else asked this qu a while back and got no replies

I'd be interested in what people recommend as well. I need something to pick up the bits between vacuuming.

Anyone - surely someone has a fabby carpet sweep thingy....

Was the GTech one the thing that Cod won in a competition a while ago? Not sure.

Seems to get pretty good reviews (mostly) on Amazon , if that's any help?

Twohootsandapumpkin · 13/10/2006 11:19

Thanks Jackie. I saw the Amazon rec but I wonder if it will be like my current swivel sweeper in that it works well for the first few weeks and then starts dying off.... Plus the other thing with a lot of these reviews is that people tend to review not long after they have bought a product - a year down the line would be better - get a more realistic view imo.

I think I prob will go with a GTECH although there are so many models out there not sure which!

We have a basic Eubank carpet sweeper from Argos (cost about fifteen quid IIRC) and it is fabulous.

LunarSea · 13/10/2006 16:31

We've got one of these . Just set it going when you go out, leave it to get on with it, and it's done when you get back! Nearest I'm ever likely to get to having a cleaner...

Oh sorry - you wanted to do stairs - it doesn't do that (but it's good at working out how not to fall down them if you set it to work on the landing)

Lunarsea I didn't know those even existed! Wow! I mean, I'm sure I saw something like it on Tomorrow's World once but I never thought you could actually get them!

Saw this on the Dyson thread - looks fab but don't think I can justify spending that much when my Dyson is still working OK. I am really after a small electric/battery op carpet cleaner to whip over the stairs - GTECH prob fits the bill. Think I will put a Roomba on my wish list for when my Dyson breaks down though as it is fab!
