Most efficient way to clean?

Whole house needs a really good clean at the mo, it has been neglected for a while now and I'm child-less tomorrow so I'm going for it
Now the question - shall I do one room at a time top to bottom then move onto the next or shall I do one whole job then move on, ie all the dusting throughout the house, then all the hoovering etc
How do you ladies do it?

I would do room by room. I would start at the top and work down. If you don't think that you will manage whole house then I would do kitchen and bathroom first , then living room and finally bedrooms.

Agree with homeaway - room by room, I take my box of cleaning products around with me and start upstairs and work my way around. I hoover upstairs once I have finished up there and then clean each room downstairs and finish by hoovering and mopping.

I always have my headphones on blasting music to keep me going!

I get really bored of room by room, or even job by job. I use the UFYH app and do random task after random task to keep it interesting! I also think it can be quite an efficient way of doing things if you make sure when you move from one task to another you move stuff to it's final destination.

I am a weirdo with a short attention span though, this approach might not work for everyone!

Room by room, it would be quite satisfying to mentally tick-off each one. Good luck!

ILikeToClean I can't play music when I'm cleaning because I spend more time looking for a different song than actually getting in with it haha
I doubt I'll make it to each room, so now to figure out which are most important and which to delegate to DP...think I'll give him the playroom of doom

I do that thing professional cleaners apparently do, room by room but work from the back of the house to the front and from left to right. It works well in my current house, it means I never pause and think - what next? I just keep going.

I also like spotify, I have a several hour long playlist.

Well I started this morning doing one room at a time, but after a while found myself doing really unimportant things like rearranging the sock draw while the rest of the house was a shit tip
Soooo I decided I'd rather all of the house be semi-clean than some rooms be spotless and some be disgusting
So I did a general tidy everywhere first (this took way longer than it should have, I must tidy more often!) then I did the bathroom too to bottom (start with the easy stuff) and changed all the bedding
Then I went through and dusted the whole house, then swept the whole house, then hoovered the h/s/l and any rugs
Then I steamed everywhere
Then I ran out of time but it means all I've got to do now is Hoover the sofa and underneath it, clean the kitchen work tops and wash the dogs bedding and blankets etc, instead of having say 3 whole rooms left untouched
So I'm pretty pleased with my little self

Well done! I have tons to do but am sitting drinking tea and nursing a slight hangover! DH will be up and put at 6am tomorrow so I'll get up and blitz then before DDs wake up!
