Table and chairs needed for living area!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

themaskedposter · 11/10/2006 14:47

We don't have much space but would like table and chairs in our lounge area. Does anyone have any models / styles that are good for small areas.

(I am trying to get dh onto this idea of having a table etc - he quite likes eating dinner off his knee ... I HATE it!!!!)

i would be ultra intersted int his too. as we willbe moving to a house with no dining area and the family eating together is a major priority to me. so we need some kind of talbe that is small enough to fit into the living area - but will sit at least 4 and would like 6 if poss.

We've got a foldy up one. Chairs fold up & slide into table, table leaves drop so the whole thing is something like 18 inches deep and stacks nicely against a wall until we need it. They sit 4

YES Iklboo!! I was thinking along the lines of having to get a foldy one ... any links to good ones ... anyone????

i dont think we are getting much help

i saw on in the homebase catalogue yeterday - its a talbe that folds down and has fold away chairs which are sacked underneath - this costs 150 pounds and IMO is shite to look at will see if i can find link

Tortington · 12/10/2006 08:58

can't find it sorry

nogoes · 12/10/2006 09:03

I am crap at doing links but John Lewis have an oak type foldy table and argos have a similar beech foldy thing. If you want something a bit more like a proper table (iyswim)NEXT have a nice oak square table that seats 4 but can be extended to seat 6.

plenty in Ikea

imnot27 · 12/10/2006 09:33

Hi, we have a TINY breakfast room, and after lots of mistakes (folding, gateleg etc) we've found the best is a round table, as it takes up so little room and you can squeeze extra people round it if you need to. Ikea have a lovely white one which expands into an oval, and has one central leg whcih means you could tuck stools right under out of the way. We got a cheapy set from Argos though (bit skint) and it's great!

misdee · 12/10/2006 09:35

i have aq butterfly folding table. chairs store away underneath. its meant to be for four, but can fit five easily. 6 at a squeeze.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 12/10/2006 09:36

Foldy-down butterfly sets at Argos

Tortington · 12/10/2006 10:45

i could live with the mahogany argos one.

oooooooooo, I have just bought a great set from homebase last night. The table is sort of oak effect wood, chunky-ish legs, and the chairs are brown "leather" (effect). We have a tiny space to put in it, and it looks great ( I think!) We were limited on budget and this only cost £169.99. Here a photo (because I bought a new camera yesterday and yes, I am that sad)

My Table

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 12/10/2006 10:55

Great ideas there and LOVING your new table and chairs set QueenQuootie ... I think we will have to go Homebase and have a lookie!

NOW all I need is to find a good home for a fabulous brown leather suite (one 3 seater and one 2 seater)to make room for table and chairs ... any takers???

nogoes · 12/10/2006 17:00

QueenQuootie - What is your table called? I can't find it on homebase website. Thanks.
