How do you display your Christmas cards?

Looking for inspiration. I bought a table top stand to put them in but they all fall out, it's rubbish!
We are short on space so they need to hang somewhere.
I've seen a hanging kit but looks like it involves sticking bits to the wall, door etc so not sure about this.
Please tell me what you do ith yours.

Bit of string along picture rail and hang them over that.

I get some 'festive ribbon' (so normally the thicker stuff they sell for wrapping gifts), use a flat topped drawing pin to pin it to the top of a door frame, and then staple them to the ribbon.

On the mantle and book shelves in front of the books.

My mum hangs a couple of ribbons across the mantle / fireplace - one tack or drawing pin at each end so it hangs like a garland and then hangs the cards on the ribbon. It looks nice.

A piece of string tied/attached to anything available. my lounge has a useless mini window on the side as well as the main window so I tie my string going from the curtain rail of the big window to the curtain rail of the slit window. The kids get lots of cards from school so I tied 2 strings up! It looks quite festive!!

I have a length of sting permanently attached to my picture rail. It sits invisibly on top of the rail when not in use and is put to use at birthday time too.

Piece of string then clip them up with mini clothes pegs that are decorated with little felt reindeer.

God that sounds twee written down, honest it looks nice!

Ribbon attached with pins and stuck on wall. They take too much space elsewhere

wowfudge · 13/12/2014 19:43

I tape them together in lengths then hang off the picture rails. Low tech version of the attaching them to ribbon technique.

I've got two fire places with beams above rather than mantle pieces. I've got pretty ribbon pinned to both and use tiny pegs to attach the cards. I've also been known to hang ribbon on the wall and staple the cards to it.

In a pile on top of the worktop Blush

Thesimplethings · 13/12/2014 21:37

Blu tacked on the doors. Special family ones go on the mantle.

RobotRuthy · 13/12/2014 21:39

I'm tempted to put them in a basket on the coffee table this year as I've just decorated.

I don't think people as sending as many due to postage costs (or they don't like me anymore?) so I'll only need a little basket this year...awwwww.

ilovepowerhoop · 13/12/2014 21:42

I have a holder that hangs over the living room door - it is shaped like a christmas tree

bangersmashandbeans · 13/12/2014 21:45

Red ribbon above door frame and red/silver/gold mini pegs - was dirt cheap from somewhere but always get complimented!

MehsMum · 13/12/2014 21:47

Blutak-ed along the picture rail, on the mantelpiece, and hung on red ribbons.

cosysocks · 13/12/2014 21:55

Blue tac to a wall. I've made a wreath out of them before on the wall looked something like this...

My staircase is in my sitting room, so I loop some string between some of the railings and newell post and just use that. So much tidier than cluttering up window sills, shelves and tables!
