My month at Aldi experiment

So after reading so many threads on here about Aldi I decided for a month to swap from my usual combination of asda and waitrose to Just Aldi . I brought all my usual things and have just done my final shop for the month .
It's been AMAZING . I've saved nearly 250 pounds and quite frankly I think the food has been nicer and better quality . I'm a total convert .

Anyone else found this ? I just can't get how the other supermarkets get away with charging so much more ?

That's Ok wow, fat's good for us again now Grin We don't have an Aldi but the Lidl greek yogurt is amazing. And so it should be with 10% fat!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/11/2014 21:15

It's not thick set like Total but it is Greek yoghurt. Not sure you can call Liberte yoghurt without breaching the trade descriptions act Wink

Wow - fat is fine, it's sugar (both real and fake) you need to worry about... (if fat has been removed, they've put something else in to make it edible.

We don't have an Aldi near us, not even in the next couple of towns, it would be a very long drive to the next one.

We do have a Lidl, but it is rather small (with a small car park) and doesn't seem to do everything I need. I tried to switch to there, but as I was having to go to Sainsburys or do an Ocado order as well, it didn't feel like much of a saving for a lot more hassle.

It's high in protein, has a great texture and isn't loaded with fat or sugar. Just something I like - no need for the dietary advice Wink

any aldi lovers, buy a copy of the mirror today £10 off of a £50 shop plus vouchers for other items. I never buy the mirror but thought it was worth my 55p for the voucher.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/11/2014 16:07

I bought two, one for tonight's shop and one for next weeks shop.

Bum didn't think of that could have gone food shopping on the Thursday next week. Oh well I'm not getting dressed now and going out. I'm in my pjs after a nice bath.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/11/2014 20:57

You'll remember next time though Wink

Oooh, exciting, the local paper has said Aldi have confirmed they are looking at sites in our town! (wish we'd got them rather than Lidl, Lidl are rubbish and stock hardly anything other than mountains of different cheap cakes, biscuits and chocolates).

ROUNDandROUNDINCIRCILESMORETHA · 05/12/2014 14:48

Have done that with ldil this wk and saved £35. Quicker and smaller trolleys. Simple. :)

Passthecake30 · 08/12/2014 09:16

Another one who doesn't like aldi here. ...the crisps had burst seams, ham was horrible, kids didn't like the yogurt, bacon was cheap but so thin, ketchup rejected, list goes on and on. Only thing that was ok was the FR chicken and wholemeal bread. I'm an asda gal.
