Colour Catchers

Do those laundry colour catcher thingymebobs work?
Have come home after a night out with DH and my Mum was ironing when we got back and said I've got 2 loads of washing done you just need to empty the machine. Bless her cotton socks.

Unfortunately I have just extracted 2 were once white but now candyfloss pink bras, 2 of DD'S school polo shirts now pink and socks now pink.

Should I do a supermarket dash tomorrow to buy some kind of wonder product that will by magic turn them white again or just laugh about it and not bother?

They have worked in the past for me, so worth a go. You could also try soaking the clothes in hot water with soda crystals (very cheap) and see if that works.

Colour catchers work for us, but we put them in with the mixed wash, so your mum would have needed to put the colour catcher sheet in with the wash to prevent the colour runs.

We've had less success with correcting colour runs.

The other thing we do is have colour coded washing boxes for dirty washing, one is for garments with white and dark areas/patterns. These washes get a colour catcher.

To be honest I'm not sure why she put white stuff in with a very pink Hello Kitty duvet cover.. she will probably say it's because it's been washed loads of times before. I never trust my whites with anything!

You need a colour run remover rather than a colour catcher which should have been used in with the original wash

Polo shirts in particular seem to absorb every hint of a colour run and can get grubby looking very quickly if not kept with white wash, I find.

Think you should just get a couple more white polo shirts and laugh it off.

Colour run removers as suggested is your best bet. I've saved many items this way (hence my love for colour catchers) I do the hand wash method

I had a similar incident when I had forgotten to put a colour catcher in with a mixed wash. I washed it again with a colour catcher and vanish oxy action powder and it got the runs out.
You do get colour catcher style sheets for removing colour runs too.
