Can I handwash a dry clean only wool skirt?

I bought a wool skirt from ebay and the label says dry clean only. Would I ruin it if I handwashed it?

I'd stick it in the washing machine on a wool cycle (either cold or 30 degrees). Have done this loads of times with success. Mind you, most of my clothes are charity shop finds so not too much of a risk... Smile

handwashing should be fine, but I would use the wool cycle of the washer.
if it doesn't wash in the mashine it's not worth having imo.

If it is a wool mix, yes.

If pure wool, maybe a cold handwash. Maybe... I did a wool scarf the other day in hand hot water and it shrunk.

Shrunk/shrank? Ugh.

Shrank. Like sank and rang - very few people seem to use these forms nowadays. God I sound like my mother saying that!
