Moths. everywhere!

We seem to have an infestation of the bloody things. I open the kitchen cupboards and they fly out! Also larvae climbing the walls. Has anyone else had this and what to do?

We had this a few weeks ago. Probably indian moths - the larvae are foul and you have my sympathy

I got rid of them by chucking any dry goods that were suspicious ie any signs of webby stuff or 'strings' on the packets, obviously any moths or larvae. There was one pack which was clearly the 'nest' which was teeming with maggots! I then hoovered and wiped out the inside of each shelf. DH picked off the maggots and i squished a few (all on the ceiling). I also bought the indian moth sticky pads from eBay which caught quite a few while we were away for the weekend. And i bashed them as soon as I caught sight of one.

It's one of the worst things I have experienced, endless moths! Good luck.

Are they maggoty looking larvae? Shudder!

Clean up any infested areas as suggested above. Also look for the pupae. Indorex (cat flea house spray) works on moths for up a year, so you could also, if you wished, give likely areas a spray.

Yuck yes they are maggoty. Seem to be coming from a kitchen cupboard. They are tiny moths. Gross. Thanks for the tips and will try them out.

Friends of mine got rid of theirs by using ichneumon wasps. Maybe that's something you want to consider.

We have them. I blame the manly wool carpet in the lounge (we rent our house so can't get rid of it). I sprayed lavender oil around the carpet and it seems to have helped.

We had Indian Meal moths after buying infected bird seed from a pet shop. We ended up having to get rentokil out :(

Our initial infestation was in the living room (maggotty things on the ceiling - yuk) but they had started to make their way to the kitchen.

Wen as some in hamster food from The Range. Yuck.
