Alternative to Finish ones please.

But still work!

They are so expensive though!

Obviously I don't want to ruin the machine.

I use Aldi. We live in a soft water area and I find half a tablet works fine for us.

SadSetter · 17/11/2014 20:22

Tesco value.

I didn't believe it either when I saw it on here, but they work.

rabbit123 · 18/11/2014 08:26

Absolutely the Aldi dishwasher tablets. I've been using them for years, they're great. Aldi dishwasher cleaners are really good too

itsnothingoriginal · 22/11/2014 18:13

Tried Lidl and Aldi with high hopes. Not sure if it's because our water is very hard but there was a residue all over my cutlery and plates - basically it stopped washing properly and agree with pp about machine starting to smell Shock

I'm sticking with Fairy and the premium brands from now on which is a shame as they are so expensive even on offer Sad

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/11/2014 18:28

Tesco daisy POWDER.

I can't believe the whole animal testing thing doesn't concern more of you.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 22/11/2014 18:30

Aldi. The aldi dishwasher cleaner is fab as well.

KatieKaye · 23/11/2014 16:25

Used to use both Finish and Fairy - switched to Lidl.
Am sticking with Lidl as they are great. And no detriment to dishwasher either (unlike poor SkinnyChip)

deeray · 23/11/2014 16:26

Aldi, much better than Finish and much, much cheaper.

chockbic · 23/11/2014 16:27

Fluffy, I'm a veggie. Every little helps Wink

I'm too scared to stop the Finish now Hmm

I found what was fab in my last dishwasher is rubbish in current one and visa versa. I think you just need to experiment and work out what is best for your dishwasher Smile

OneSkinnyChip · 23/11/2014 20:56

It does sound a bit like I was just unlucky :o But when I googled 'dishwasher eggy smell' it came up as a possibility - I think on the Martin Lewis site believe it or not! Moneysavers had switched to Lidl and had the same problem. That was my light bulb moment (we'd been using them for a few weeks so it hadn't occurred to me that they might be the culprit).

Aldi ones sound like they get a good score from MNers.

PigletJohn · 24/11/2014 01:33

Aldi and Lidl and Fairy Platinum came top in Which.

The Ecover ones were very poor. Morrisons all in 1 are a "don't buy"

Be sure to use salt and rinse aid, even though they are all-in-one tablets.

wonkylegs · 24/11/2014 07:30

Morrison's all in one ones are fine here but that might be because the Miele dishwasher combined with soft water is just so fab it doesn't seem to matter what brand I use. So I get the own brand / offer at whatever supermarket I'm in at the time.

chockbic · 25/11/2014 19:32

Thanks all.

Lidl were highly rated by which magazine. I'm a total fan. Cheap too!!!

rugbychick · 25/11/2014 19:45

I use Tesco all in one tablets. They are very good. Also Asda ones are good. Never bought any of the branded ones like Finish or Fairy

chockbic · 25/11/2014 19:47

The finish say you don't need salt or rinse aid. Do you need them with the cheaper ones?

OP posts:
thecheekofthem · 25/11/2014 19:52

we have a problem that the tablets aren't disolving. any suggestions? thanks

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 25/11/2014 19:52

I find you do need salt and rinse aid even using finish etc. I have stopped buying the ones with the gel coating as they bung up the dishwasher. I do like finish and if you are near a makro they are Bogof on the huge boxes. But if no deals on finish then aldi for sure.

PigletJohn · 25/11/2014 20:16

"we have a problem that the tablets aren't dissolving. any suggestions?"

perhaps the dispensing drawer is not opening correctly. Put a tablet in the cutlery basket and it should then dissolve

or perhaps the water is not getting hot enough. Open the door mid-cycle. Does hot steam billow out?

Dancingincircles · 28/11/2014 00:07

I stock up on either fairy or finish tablets when they are on sale as they clean off absolutely everything.

Cheap tablets do not dissolve in my machine. You can buy powder instead, I used to buy finish powder till all the shops near me stopped stocking it :(

Icelollycraving · 28/11/2014 09:09

I always used fairy or finish until this year when money has been tight. We now use Lidl ones, just as good & a bargain.
