Bucketofdinosaurs - Thanks for not being terribly miffed at me for saying things in perhaps a less than elegant way! As for growing out of it, I hate to say but dnephew was 7 last month and he is getting worse (hard to believe it could get worse but it did) not better. He now asks for pasta for breakfast whereas before he'd have dry Weetabix, dry bread or fruit or yogurt.
jasndismembered - I remember saying to the scout leader some months ago "sorry little Frederick (I've made that up btw) won't be going on the all night hike but it starts an hour after he normally goes to bed and I don't imagine there's much sleep going to be had that night". He's been the oldest one at cub camp, asking to be allowed to bed at 9pm whilst the others have been running around eating Haribo and saying "oh, we're always up til 10 on a weekend". Not if they were in my house, they wouldn't be. Evening time is hush time. Sanity time for parents. Without it I turn into When Mum Turned Into A Monster if anyone has ever read the book.
mummyhill - glad to have been of some help.
Now that dd is home from dance (I had to wait to speak to the teacher) I'm going to get her off to bed and open a bottle of wine!
