My washing machine smells horrid ...

... all musty and gross. I do (fairly) regular service washes and have just done two in a row to see if it will help. And the soap tray is relatively clean. But it still smells musty and so do the clothes that come out of it. Any ideas?

Clean the pipe it drains into too. I gave ours a good go with soda crystals and boiling water and it helped a lot. Think we need our drain cleaned too as we have stinky drains despite regular cleaning.

A cup full of Epsom salts in with your washing helps as well.

Has the rubber seal gone black/got black spots. IME if this is the case then nothing will get rid of the smell. If it's not gone black make sure you give the seal a good clean - pull it back and get right underneath and behind it.
