Keeping thick pile carpets nice

How can I regenerate our nice thick pile carpet? It's flatter and less soft in the middle of the room. It's a bedroom so not massively high traffic, and only a couple of years old. Any tips please?

upright hoover.

Is it synthetic?

Yes it's synthetic. I use an upright hoover already (Dyson) but not very often. It's always nicer after a hoover but the middle is still not as good as the edges iykwim. Should I hoover more often?

upright hoover will lift the pile. Synthetics are more prone to flattening where trampled and under feet of furniture so perhaps nothing you can do about it. If it is fairly modern it is probably polypropylene, some older nylon carpets were very bad.

I had some polypropylene not long ago that was called "heather twist" and the pile was crimped to make it stand up more. It was not as soft as a cut pile carpet though. An underlay helps it to feel softer.
