How to make my room smell nicer?

My living room is a little smelly thanks to my puppy using it as a toilet. It doesn't smell of pee as such but it doesn't smell nice and fresh either!

I'm not keen on using sprays as I think they just mask odours rather than anything else and my carpet is fairly new so any ideas?

I know I can use plug ins but not sure it's the solution!

Open the window as much as possible! Can you lock it open on 'crack'?
I can't stand the smell of sprays etc, they only cover smells with a different smell, the only real answer is to flush out with fresh air.

Is it carpet? If so then get it cleaned. You can hire some pretty good carpet cleaners if you dont have one yourself or you don't want to pay someone else to do it.

You need to sort out the source of the smell rather than just adding 'nicer' smells on top.

You need to sort the carpet out! You could shampoo it? I have some glade shake n vac powder I sprinkle on the carpet every so often, leave a bit and hoover (less than £1.50 and several uses) It leaves a nice smell. Otherwise how about a reed diffuser? Perhaps put it on your christmas list...

You need to clean the carpet. Get a dude in if you don't want to do it yourself.

Do your sofa cushions come off? If so take them off and give them a wash on cool and use lenor or comfort.

If leather.. get a good leather cleaner and give it a good feed.. rub it in and then buff it off with a soft cloth.

Change the living room around if you can be chewed so the whole room gets a good corner to corner doing.

I love reed diffusers. Have max benjamin grapefruit in three rooms.they have really gotten rid of previous owners' doggie fag smells. Ive no carpets though.

I would get rid of the dog from the house or put down laminate flooring and wash daily

Urine Off does what is says on the tin and is wonderful for dealing with the unseen pee stains in the carpet which won't be helping. I tried all sorts, shampooing, vinegar/bicarb combos, but this really did the trick.

That, ventilation, and I like my essential oil burner for subtle fragrancing.

I got some stuff from the vets which is for when cats spray (disgusting pong). And it really worked, so I'm sure it will work on your carpet.

Alternatively, use some biological washing powder, as that's designed to break down bacteria etc which cause nasty smells.

Doh yes I have heard of diffusers! Thought reed was a brand name! God what is wrong with me!

Yes another vote for a specialist urine remover, I find rug doctor urine eliminator to work really well.
