Removing black spot mould on curtains?

We have large good quality blackout curtains for our patio doors but I've noticed on the lining at the bottom they've got patches of black mould.

Just wondering if dry cleaning is the only option to clean them up or at least kill off the mould even if they remain a bit stained? Or is there another option? We want to get new (moisture resistant) vertical blinds but don't want the mould possibly transferring onto them from the curtains.

I've used this www.dettol.ie/products/search/trigger-sprays/31743-mould-mildew/ to get rid of mould in this type of situation. There is a risk it might bleach the curtains. It doesn't normally bleach stuff but sometimes it does so it might depend on the fabric. I have found it very effective for getting mould off curtains, net curtains, and I even had a lovely Batik and it got it off that without bleaching the picture.

You could maybe try it on a small part of the fabric first to see? If it is just the lining that is mouldy I personally would risk spraying a small part of that and leaving it for a while to see.

I got it off using vanish for whites laundry powder. It was at the bottom so I sort of scrunched up the curtain and put a washing up bowl of the stuff between the curtain and lining and soaked it then scrubbed. No dry cleaners would take them, they all said it was impossible. They came up perfectly.

I wouldn't do the dettol again, we did and the bleach was a problem.

Won't the curtains end up scrunched if you soak the end of them?

As well as getting rid of the mould that's there, pulling the curtains out so they can air (get air circulating around them) can help, as can getting fresh air and sunlight on them. I'm going to get one of those little dessicant pots that you can get to dry things out to sit down near where the problem is - hopefully if I can stop it from getting too damp the problem won't return...

i used a product from dylon curtain cleaner. can get in supermarket. prob did 90% of cleaning but definately better than was

I used washing powder. In the most tough spots, I rubber it in and left it over night. Wasn't perfect, but a vast improvement. The mould I was removing was extensive though, so I imagine it would work even better on a small amount.

Hi.the best way to remove black mould is put handful of salt and 1 measure of vanish stain remover in bowl of water, soak and wor the affected areas then wash as normal, really works.

I endorse this hack. i followed the same process but instead of Vanish I used Ultra Max stain remover .

I have read somewhere that white vinegar may work.

Does someone know how to remove black mould from dry clean only poliester curtains. Black spots appear on the bottom of the inner curtains sides which is white synthetic material. I wish to upload some photos. The wall opposite the curtains was a bit moldy, I wiped it with wet wipes. Black spots are quite a lot and look quite old. I tried to brush it - didn't work. Tried with a vac.cleaner - didn't work as well. There is some pooh between both parts of the curtain which is very easy to get broken. I'm not quite sure is it mould or just dirt. I smelled it with a risk of being intoxicated and it smelt like mould very slightly. There was some mould in the bedroom as well.
Anybody got an idea how to clean that? The label says dry clean only.
