What does your cleaner do in two hours?

We are looking into getting a cleaner, and we have a small 3 bed semi.

We thought that we just wanted someone to come once a week to clean the bathroom, dust all rooms, hoover and mop, but the 3 agencies we spoke to said that would take 3 hours!

Just wondering what other people's cleansers do in two hours?

Vacuum clean small kitchen bathroom and living rooms. It takes her an hour and a half. Even less if I'm not there!

cleans bathroom, kitchen, dusting, mops and hoovers floors. sometimes she has time left over and because she is wonderful she will fill it with e.g. cleaning the fridge

but i only have a two-up-two-down terraced house so it could well take longer for yours? have the agencies seen the house or are they basing it on your description

4 bed hour, cleaner for 2 hours a week.
Sweeps and washes hard floors downstairs (hall, downstairs loo, kitchen, utility, conservatory / breakfast room)
Vacuums carpets (lounge, playroom, 3 bedrooms, stairs & landing, ensuite & bathroom)
Cleans toilets & sinks (downstairs loo, ensuite, bathroom)
Cleans kitchen & utility sinks and surfaces & hob top.
Wipes down surfaces in all rooms (windowsills, tables, chest of drawers etc).

Sometimes I'll ask her to do the dining room or spare bedroom, but as they rarely get used she doesn't do these every week.

She doesn't do thinks like skirting boards, vacuuming cobwebs from ceiling, cleaning inside of windows, inside oven or fridge etc. I'm ok with this as the basics are getting done once a week so I'll keep on top of the other things as and when. She doesn't change the beds, which a friend has done - but I'm happy to do that myself.

Actually she doesn't do any of the above, as after 5 years she got a different job last week and I am now cleaner less ??

1.5 hours to vacuum 4 rooms? she's taking the micky surely!

10 minutes each even moving furniture should be enough unless she's getting the tools out and doing skirting boards and behind heavy furniture?

When I did have a cleaner she'd hoover 3 bedrooms, wash kitchen floor and downstairs loo floor, living and dining room vac, and iron some shirts- in 2 hrs.

The quote was just based on my description, we do have a downstairs loo, ensuite and conservatory but I told them I didn't want them doing as we rarely use them so I can just do them on an ad-hoc basis.

I think I'll shop around and get some more quotes!

Can't you source one yourself without using an agency?
Where I live it's all done on recommendation between neighbours or ads in the local shop ( backed up with references of course.)
Cheaper than using an agency and you can set your own agreement with the cleaner.

My house sounds same size as yours. My cleaner does 1.5 hrs a week and does most of hoovering/dusting/bathroom/loo/mops floors what she doesn't do one week she picks up the next. 2hours might be better but it's doable. She's amazing though and I know great cleaners are like gold dust. Ask around rather than use an agency - particularly neighbours as it's easier if they can do close on same day - mine does 3 of us in the road on the same day.

We have a good sized 4 bed detached. In 2 hours our cleaner does family bathroom, ensuite shower and loo, downstairs loo, hall and kitchen and dining space. She does a thorough job of all of what she does.

I sometimes pay her an extra hour and she does either the DCs rooms or the living area.
