Miele dishwasher problem

Been having problems getting it to clean things. Think this is because the holes in the rotating arms keep getting bunged up with food and so the water is restricted. We have poked the food back into the arm as instructed in the manual but surely the water will just push it back into the hole?

Any ideas? we've been rinsing plates before putting in, using salt, and dishwasher cleaner. Didn't have this problem with other makes.

Have you cleaned the filter and tried running a hot empty wash? Rinse it through.
We've never had this problem with ours and I'd say some of the family are a bit lacklustre at cleaning their plates before putting them in.

Are your pipes twisted or blocked? Our dishwasher (different make) was until recently not working very well, then we had a kitchen reshuffle & moved it, straightening out the pipes in the process. It now cleans like a dream!

wonky - yes filter in bottom cleaner regularly and regular empty wash with dishwasher cleaner in.

confused - hadn't thought of twisted pipes.....worth investigating.

do you both have those arms that wizz round? you don't find the holes get blocked with food and stop the water coming out?

take the spinning arms off. Wash them out in the sink and shake out particles.

Clean the filters frequently. There may be three. Check the instructions. Look for any tears or splits in the gauze.

Use salt and rinse aid. Dishwashers do not work so well without.

piglet - husband claimed he could only get one of the arms off.....i'll get him to look again tonight, as not convinced that just poking food through hole will sort problem, though in ST it has so that seems to have. challenge now is to stop it happening again so quickly.

added rinse aid to shopping list - as never bothered with this before.

thanks for help everyone - this has been driving me nuts

do the instructions describe how to take the arms off?

dreamingofsun · 28/10/2014 14:19

yes, but husband couldn't get 2 of them off - maybe because he was a bit scared to force them. i'll get him to have another look. it seems to be working ok at the moment though, so obviously food clogging holes must have been issue. i can't understand why the water hasn't pushed the food back into hole.
