No idea about London, down in Surrey, I pay between £10 and £15 for that I get two collapsible boxes of folded clothes, and about 10 hanging items.

Get an aupair. The ironing comes free.

Gillian76 · 03/10/2006 20:39

I get mine done about once every 6 weeks.

The charge £1 per lb in weight.

Have just had a black bag picked up tonight. Will cost me £22

Gillian76 · 03/10/2006 20:40

Not London either, sorry!

mine used to be £25 a week for a pucca job - now i pay a lady £5 for a family of 7's ironing. Thhis insludes superking size duvet and generally one other double and a couple of cot.
I was told yesterday that our tesco was price banded with knightsbridge so maybe ironing prices on a par with smoke too

TarkaTheHeadlessOtter · 03/10/2006 20:44

its not a fab job - but for that price hey!

In london it depends where you leave. In West London if you have a cleaner doing your ironing, it's between 7 and 8 quid per hour. it depends how skillful and willing the ironer is. I had someone who was charging 6 per hour and was so slow that someone who charges 8 might be actually cheaper because they will do the lot for 12 while not an experienced person will do it for 18. You also save your time with an experienced person having the ironing done in 1,5 hours instead of 3. Mind you, some people will charge you the going rate and still be unexperienced. It's very difficult to find a very good cleaner. there are also shops which will do it for you but they usually work out more expensively.

Horshoe - I pay £9 for 12 items to an ironing company. They collect from my house and deliver back the next night. Its a luxury I only use when I've done loads of DH's work shirts or want to get bedding ironed for in-laws visit. Never usually iron bed linen just for us. Incidentally, not sure I could sleep nights if I paid someone just £5 to do a family of seven's ironing ... Surely that's a typo?
