On a nail knocked in to the wall! Where else!?

Skribble · 01/10/2006 23:58

I just have a few hooks screwed to the window frame next to the door. hidden behind blinds, so don't need to be attractive. No place to put a key cupboard in hall due to other doors, or I would get one.

Nice, I like that one, bit pricey. I would love something like that but nowhere to put it.

eidsvold · 02/10/2006 02:30

Ours are hanging in a cupboard on a set of hooks. Very basic little thing for about £3 from diy shop.
You should always hide keys anyway, don't have them on show by the back/front door - great invitation for burgular!

'Here, I'm in this huge box saying keys on the front - steal my car and have a spare set of house keys while you are at it so you can come back for more later!'

Skribble · 02/10/2006 13:15

CalifornifamousFanjo that is so true, you stand at the till dumbfounded as you kept picking up things going oh look its only £1.50 .

mumfor1standfinaltime Perhaps if I had a big hook saying hello I am the cars keys and look there are the house keys my DH would actually find them himself

Beccarolloveragain · 02/10/2006 13:17

Yorkie

I have the one in your third link. (4.99)

Its great, we have it mounted on the side of a cupboard near the front door and the door shuts over the keys so looks neat and is metal so very cleanable!

Gingerbear · 02/10/2006 13:20

we have a small wooden hook rack fixed to the side od a kitchen wall cabinet.
Metal cabinet more secure though (burgular proof)

foxtrottingtotransylvania · 02/10/2006 13:27

Shelf (for phones, sunglasses etc) with cuphooks along the front for keys, right by the burglar alarm panel. In theory, you rush in, switch off alarm, hang up keys, do in reverse as you leave.

NomDePlume · 02/10/2006 13:29

We keep our keys that aren't used often in a console table in the hall. But our car keys / house keys are kept in a pot on top of the console table. Never had a key rack etc.

mamamaaargh · 02/10/2006 21:55

Lol! Like the 'in theory' bit, foxtrottingtotransylvania.

foxtrottingtotransylvania · 03/10/2006 13:33

Reality? Rush in, trip over buggy, scooter & assorted hotwheels, stumble to alarm seconds before it goes off, drop keys on floor whereupon inquisitive child 'borrows' them and stuffs them down side of sofa. To leave house, shout, scream, rummage for spare keys, rush out looking like i've been through a hedge backwards...

SoupDragon · 03/10/2006 13:36

Don't store your keys near your letterbox as they are prone to "fishing" where burglars hook them through the letter box using, I presume, a fishing rob type thing.

SoupDragon · 03/10/2006 13:37

I often store my door keys in the lock ont he outside of the door because I've forgotten to take them out...

foxtrottingtotransylvania · 03/10/2006 13:41

My neighbours had their keys fished, and their brand new that day car nicked so it's not an urban myth.

nikkie · 04/10/2006 19:59

cup hooks by all doors and windows (behind curtains)

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 04/10/2006 20:04

I keep my house keys in my jacket pocket - keys that aren't used often are on hooks inside the cupboard under the stairs - out of sight....

My parents once had a break in while we were all asleep upstairs - they broke in throught the window, took the TV and a few other electrical bits and let themselves out the back door...........

Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 04/10/2006 20:40

We only seem to have the one set of keys each which go on a tiny high shelf near the front door (would take a skilled angler to fish them through th letterbox.) The back door key goes under the recycling box on the counter next to the front door.
