Ironing bed covers

Is there a knack to it? I'm at the verge of giving up

I buy easy care bedlinen - life is too short to iron pretty much anything, but I draw the line at underwear, bedding and anything you can get away with once tumble dried.

I iron my bedding - it just looks and feels so much nicer.
For the fitted sheet I just do the middle part as the elasticated corners will be folded over anyway.
For the duvet cover I start with an edge on the ironing board and iron as much as possible then move it up a bit and do the same and so on. When I get to the opposite edge I turn it around 90° and do the same until I've done the whole thing.
I know it sounds a faff but I live by myself so it's only one set of bedding per week.
