Miele Induction Hob - stopped working - Advice please

My Miele induction hob suddenly stopped working last week after 5 years. Miele engineer said it was due to component failure. Just unlucky! I am so disappointed in the product, this shouldn't happen to a Miele appliance?
Repairs cost approx £500 or Miele have offered to take a percentage off a new one, (at least £100-£1200)
Am I right to feel that this is not acceptable?

Not quite sure how to move forward. All advice welcome. Thank you

I am a massive Miele fan and have washing machine, dishwasher, vacuum cleaner, fridge freezer and tall freezer.

I am hoping to have a new kitchen and will probably not bother with a Miele hob as I have read several owners had negative experiences with them. It seems that Miele customer service is not what you would expect. If they think 5 years is an acceptable life span for the hob I would buy your new one elsewhere. IKEA guarantee theirs for five years and you could probably buy several IKEA hobs for the price of a Miele.

Oh forgot say, I really like the look of Neff point and twist or Siemens slide control induction hobs.

How gutting. You expect a Miele to last longer than 5 years.
My Miele dishwasher lasted 8 years & our local supplier was very surprised, apparently they expect about a 20 year life out of them.
£500 repair bills seems very high.

I've got Siemens appliances now & am happy with them.

iggymama & TMD - thank you for your replies...

Iggymama - Add to your list....steam oven & oven....I went for the whole lot - Miele - when I redid our kitchen 5 years ago. Feeling very gutted atm.
Yes, there seems to be little reason to want to buy Miele esp if they have a shorter lifespan than advertised and pride themselves on.
Due to the kitchen design and space for the hob, I am very limited with the hob size and shape I can get.....currently its looking like only Miele have that size - although I do need to spend some time looking.

TMD - did you contact Miele about the dishwasher - that is very unlucky - they are supposed to last longer

I have rewritten to Miele telling them that i am not accepting the offer, asking if they can reconsider. Lets see - will keep you posted!
Any ideas on taking Miele on..

Given that Miele consider themselves a cut above other brands, they should really stand by their product and accept that five years life is not what you expect from a premium brand with such a high price tag.

If Miele do not put this right for you, I hope you are lucky to find another brand that fits the cut out. They mostly seem to be 60, 80 or 90 cm wide on the top so hopefully not much difference in the hole size needed.

Please do come back and update, I am very interested to see how this turns out for you.
