Curtain lengths, best length between window cill and radiator?

There is a distance of 16cm between window cill and radiators below in our new house. Windows are non standard, so I've bought a pair of curtains to shorten (as it will be cheaper). I was thinking somewhere in the middle, ie the curtains will be approx 8cm below cill and above radiator, or should I have the curtains nearer window or radiator?

If you can't finish the curtains to end at the window sill (depends on whether you have pole or track, how level the sill is, etc, etc) then I would go just below the sill. You've less chance of the heat from the radiator going up the back of the curtains then.

I'd hang the curtains and experiment pinning them up to decide what looks best in situ too.

We have this issue in our dining room and the window sill is on a definite slant (old house) so the curtains finish just below the lowest point of the sill, covering all of it, but a few inches above the radiator.

Thank you. I can actually feel the heat rising up, so want to get that right balance - insulation and heat in the room.

We have a similar situation. The windows aren't standard sizes, so am altering ready made ones myself. They are at a mid way point between the radiator and cill. I think the heat will rise anyway, as I can feel the heat for 2/3" above the cill, so it's a case of getting a happy medium with keeping heats in and draughts out.
