Quick help needed! How to get urine out of a mattress?

I've used some liquid detergent on it and scrubbed it with a hard brush but I can still smell the urine.
Is there anything else I can use to get rid of the smell?
Need to get it done quickly so it can be dry for bedtime!!!

bi carb on it
hoover when dry

if you have no bi carb
use baking powder

I hope it is your DS's and not yours! What about bicarbonate of soda or febreeze?
Do a search - I am sure there was a similar thread not so long back.

Its dd's GB
She took it upon herself to not wear a nappy in bed last night without telling me!

Ok think I have bi carb, will give it a shot.
It just smells vile.
Thanks

thank you
have you got one of these? I can highly recommend

yellowfeathers that is so spooky, my DD did exactly the same last night. I didn't twig when i picked up and put the nappy in the bin on my way to bed - duh! She woke up at one o'clock yelling mummeee i done a wee-weee in my bed. This week she gave up her dummy and started pre-school so she must be feeling verry grown-up.
Off now to pile bicarb on top of the vanish.

YellowFeathers · 28/09/2006 14:31

GB its funny you've linked that because I've just called up a local baby shop and those are the sheets she stocks so dh is on his way to buy one!

Foxtrot, dd has just started pre-school too! Also have a new baby and I think shes going through it atm.

The bicarb has gone on anyway and typically the sun has gone in

Just this week I bought a waterproof mattress cover for ds's bed from Argos, it was only 9.99 and looks like a sheet but has the waterproof film underneath.

get some cat litter and sprinkle it over the offending area...its better when the stain is "fresh" but if you spray it with a little water before your put the kitty litter on it works just as good,

Basicly the litter will soak up the moisture and neutralise the smell.

then you can spray with any fabric fragrance like febreeze etc

They are much better than the sweaty plastic backed ones as they are more like breatheable nappy wraps (old clothie user here) and can be washed at 95 degrees.
