Miele dishwasher - worth it?

We're changing our dishwasher soon and have always had a Bosch in the past. They've been ok, but I have the usual dishwasher gripes - glasses and cutlery often smeary, the odd wash where it's not washed well for some reason. I wondered if it's worth paying a lot more for a Miele - are they really worth the money and why?

Hmm I guess I would look up reviews on amazon

Totally worth it (IMO). We've just got one and it's changed our lives! Admittedly we didn't have one before so I have nothing to compare it to but it's made such a difference to our evenings. Everything else I've read (on here and elsewhere) made me feel the Miele was a good investment over cheaper brands that wouldn't last as long. Friends who have different Miele products rave about them so if you can afford it I'd say go for it!

I only popped over here to read vacuum cleaner suggestions, but got distracted. I'm beginning to sound Miele-sponsored!

I have an elderly Miele dishwasher (probably 15-18 years old).

It sounds ridiculous, but we chose it for reliability AND the cutlery tray (which runs across the top - if you stack it properly, you just pop in and scoop up the cutlery at waist/hip height).

We replace "cheap as chips" mug dishwashers at work every 2-3 years. The doors annoy me (don't seem to lie flat) and I dislike cutlery baskets and the mugs are always a bit grubby.

Our elderly Le Creuset saucepans don't venture into the dishwasher, so it just needs to cope with standard crockery and a few roasting dishes. It does fine on Waitrose Essential dishwasher tablets
