Washing not smelling fresh

I wash clothes at 40 with surcare non bio liquid and use a little surcare fabric conditioner. Clothes are dried outside. The problem is some stuff just doesn't smell 'clean'. The main ones are bedding always smelling faintly musty and dh's t-shirts always smell of his deodorant spray still.

Dh has sensitive skin so I have to be careful what washing liquid/powder I use.

Any suggestions toto help me have nice fresh washing again?

Clean the washing machine. I use Dr Beckmann (or however you spell it).

Oh, and wash your DH's tshirts at 60.

Hot wash every so often to kill any bacteria

yep, maintenance wash and clean the filter.
and switch to powder, preferably bio.

if the shirts are cotton then they can go on a 60 wash.
if you are worried about sensitive skin then you can do an extra rinse.

try a powder, which (unless branded "for colours") contains non-chlorine bleach. If you think bio doesn't suit you, use Persil non-bio.

Otherwise try a few brands on bio powder (start with Aldi Almat) as it often turns out to be the particular formula and fragrance that causes irritation. Add Washing soda crystals so you need less powder, and it dissolves the powder better so leaves less soap residue.

Liquids and cool washes are not very good for getting things clean.
