where are these holes coming from?

I bought several new t shirts at the start of summer, from oasis, dp and sainsbury. I've noticed that they all have small holes now Hmm I've not noticed this in the past, is this due to thin t shirt fabric or am I washing badly? I have a bosch washing machine so wouldn't expect it to be damaging clothes. They are tiny holes, not big snags or anything.

Moths. Bastards.

Really? I haven't seen any, would they have got at the t shirts while they were outside on the washing line? Or are they in my wardrobe Shock

Interesting. We have a new Bosch washing machine and I also have little holes in some of my clothes...

Are you washing anything with zips or buttons etc with them? I think t shirt fabric is thinner than ever now and if I wash them with anything else especially jeans they end up absolutely riddled with little holes.

I had this happen to a number of tops, near the bottom, at the front. I eventually worked out it was from the zip pull on a new pair of jeans, which was sticking forward & making the holes. Really annoying, it ruined quite a number of my tops.

I hsve granite work surfaces and realised they were ever so slightly chipped and roughened on the edges, I had them re-edged and also wear an apron most of the time now.

ShatterResistant · 04/10/2014 18:56

This is very interesting. I also have little holes in almost all my tops, also at the front near the bottom. I was thinking moths, but it seemed unlikely. The jeans zip answer could be it! Thank you MN!

I have this..its jeans!

exexpat · 05/10/2014 01:08

I get these in thin t-shirts - it's from the buckle of a belt I wear with jeans. Probably zips and metal buttons can do the same. Annoying, but if I don't wear the belt my jeans fall down.

NuzzleandScratch · 05/10/2014 12:02

For me, I think it's also made worse by the lap bit of my car seat belt, pressing the top against the jeans.

Suttonmum1 · 05/10/2014 16:23

Could also be a belt, i swapped the belt on my jeans and cured the problem.

Trollsworth · 05/10/2014 16:28

Nobody really knows.

Could be seat belt, hand bag, moths, detergent on work surfaces - but nobody really knows.
