I keep missing deliveries.....

I have 4 parcels waiting to be picked up from the post office and every time I manage to get there they are closed!!!!! It is impossible to get there at the right time between working, school pick ups and after school activities. Has anyone found a delivery solution? Ideally I want to be able to have something at home so my parcels can be delivered whilst I am out.

Put a permanent note on your door asking that parcels be left in a designated safe place not taken back to the depot. I've done this and now very rarely miss a delivery. Most couriers are happy to leave a parcel rather than waste their time trying neighbours or redelivering, so if you have easy access to the back garden, put a lidded box round there to keep parcels dry.

There is also a kind of safebox you can get for this if you're concerned about security. I've never had a parcel stolen from my garden and I also deliver parcels for a living and have never had one go astray unless I've delivered it to the wrong house Blush but if you're worried I think they do a box with a kind of PIN number to open it, which you add to your order details.

Are you in the UK? In Ireland we have Parcel Motel, you choose a local pick up point and they send a text with the PIN number to open locker when your parcel has been delivered. If you have space you could have a Hippo Box at the front of your house.

I pay 75p to have mine redelivered to my local post office. It's worth it for the lack of hassle of driving to the industrial estate where the PO now has it's collection office.

Thanks for your quick responses. I am nervous about leaving things on the doorstep as have had something stolen in the past! The hippo box looks interesting, has anyone used one?
