Best vacuum cleaner?

MistletoeBUTNOwine · 29/09/2014 08:21

I need a new vacuum cleaner.
Our house is over 3 stories so it needs to be able to tackle stairs well, not too heavy as my back isn't the greatest. Also have 2 dcs and a hairy Labrador so something good with hair! And be used pretty much daily...

Never had a dyson, are they the best?
Happy to pay for something that will do the job well Grin

Hello!

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing out vacuum cleaners, so here are our latest vacuum cleaner reviews to help you find the right model for you.

Hope this helps! Flowers

Yes - Dyson, definitely.

My mother is a vacuum addict - I don't really understand, but she's a bit strange. She has had pretty much every vacuum going and the Dyson is easily the best. She inexplicably gave it to me, and it is fabulous years on.

I've got a Miele cat&dog....it's amazing and banishes fur! My sister has had dysons but after using my Miele, she went and bought one. Both still brilliant 4 years on.

Dysons are seriously worth that money? I've just looked... Need a new Hoover too

I have a hetty, I've gone through so many hoovers that didn't Hoover properly/were too bulky/too loud/broke... and I was advised by a friend to get one because hers was so effective and has lasted so long. I love the happy face on it, it's great for carpets and hard floors. I don't have pets so don't know whether it would be good for dog hairs. It's very easy to use on the stairs, move quickly from room to room with and light to carry. There's not a speck on my floors, it's quiet and so easy to use. I love it!!!

Sebo X4 Pet or X4 Extra
Not only are Sebo one of the most reliable brands you can get, they're quiet, not too heavy, well made and the Pet and Extra come with a super long extension hose to clean up the stairs with. They also have hospital grade S class filtration to keep all the bugs in. Far more reliable than Dysons, which lose suction due to the cyclones clogging with dust and hair and fall apart after a few years. We have 2 Sebo's, 1 was bought in 1996 and is still going strong with no repairs! Cheaper than Dyson too.

Morphy Richards lift away canister uprights are brilliant for the money .IME they are way better than Dyson and Oreck . Prices range from £99 -£150 ish . I have a vacuum cleaner collection and they are my absolute favourite.
