ballpoint pen on oak table

Any ideas on how to get pen marks off an oiled oak table please? DS left a pen where DD could get hold of it and she has been drawing on our coffee table. If all else fails I could sand it out, but I'd rather not.

Hairspray? DD2 scribbled on our window sills and I got it off with hairspray and I've heard that hairspray is good for getting ink off wood.

I used to have some wood ink remover and it smelt a lot like hairspray and I used it on wood often . You'd think I'd learn to keep the pens out of reach, wouldn't you!

Normal eraser

I have got pen off a table with Cif or Ajax cream cleanser.

Brilliant. Dd got felt pen on our new oak coffee table when we'd only had it about 10 days!

Did you scrub the hairspray off or just blot it? I must try this on our felt-tipped table!
