The cycle had finished and went to open the door but it would not open! DH has watched you tube videos and tried the tricks but it is not budging! DDs bedding is inside. We still have some time on warranty but I bet this won't be covered and have to wait till 9am tomorrow to call and even then the first day my DH can be home is Friday! It is impossible due to my work for me to be home during the day!ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

unplug it, there is a chance the door release timer has failed.

I suppose the utube tricks were to try to release the latch with a small tool. It varies by model.

Loobylou3 · 20/09/2014 19:44

Thanks, tried that and not workedSad. The you tube showed using thin wire to pull behind the door - works a dream on the video but not in my kitchen! Confused

How long did you unplug it for? When our dishwasher didn't drain we had to unplug it (actually pull the plug out, not just switch it off) for a good 24 hours. It reset itself and has been fine ever since.

Azquilith · 20/09/2014 19:55

What kind of machine is it?

Loobylou3 · 20/09/2014 20:00

Will give the unplugging a go. The machine is Siemens wm12s38
It has a handle on outside edge of door if that makes sense and it kinda feels a bit loose when I pull it Blush

can't trace that model number Siemens wm12s38

Does it need drained? Mine did a few weeks ago and I surprised myself by being about to drain it myself. I also de-clogged it.

Open the front panel (bottom left), unscrew the screwy thing and clear out the gunge.

Apologies if this is not the issue.

Ps - I then did a cycle with a cleaning agent.

Azquilith · 20/09/2014 20:25

Can you try putting it on a spin to 'finish' again?

Loobylou3 · 20/09/2014 20:38

It is wm12s383gb (just checked with DH again).

This happened to mine last week, DH took off the front panel at the bottom and there's a tag which you pull with pliers while opening the door, worked with ours - good luck!

Loobylou3 · 20/09/2014 20:43

Thanks for all the replies. DH has been pulling that red thing at bottom with pliers but again nothing! Sounds like I have well and truly broken it! Angry

Could be the pump. Find the service hatch and drain it into a baking tray or whatever you've got.

headlesslambrini · 20/09/2014 20:55

My machine melted the plug last week ShockShock DH snipped it off and put a new one on and its been fine so far. It should have tripped the circuit board but didnt. Not sure what i am more worried about.

Loobylou3 · 20/09/2014 21:05

thanks again. nothing to with needing draining as the cycle had finished it beeped I pulled it didnt open! anyway looks like it completely broken now as dh was pulling the red bit at bottom again and has now mamaged to pull it out! me thinks the warranty will definitely not be valid now!Angry

OP posts:
Costacoffeeplease · 20/09/2014 21:23

Maybe a bit late now but did you pull the tag while trying to open the door at the same time?

Loobylou3 · 20/09/2014 21:28

yep, pulled (obviously a bit too hard) and tried to open at same time! oh well will have wait now and see what they say although my dh said first day he could be home was Friday and it now looks like that not actually possible! Angry

As a PP said, try a spin cycle. Mine sometimes does this and running a new cycle fixes it.

Momagain1 · 20/09/2014 22:33

Ran mine on a spin only cycle, and then it opened.

BlueBrightBlue · 20/09/2014 22:45

Silly question , but have you tried replacing the fuse? I had this happen on a machine once.

PigletJohn · 21/09/2014 10:17

Put that model number into the webpage I linked earlier and you can download the instruction manual for your machine. It may help.

Loobylou3 · 21/09/2014 10:31

Thanks again. We have managed to arrange an engineer for Wednesday and I have cleared it with work that I can pop home...they are going to call 30 minutes before getting here and I only work 10 mins away so fingers crossed they can sort it and don't have to order parts, or worse case scenario I need to fork out £500 for new machine! The bit that you pull at the bottom - think it is an emergency door opening pull is now lying on top of the machine! Blush

OP posts:
BlueBrightBlue · 21/09/2014 11:53

It sounds like the switch has failed, not a big job, don't worry too much.

VestaCurry · 21/09/2014 11:57

Looby, can you tell them you pulled the red thing (without using pliers)?

Loobylou3 · 24/09/2014 20:55

I could have hugged the engineer this morning, he came ready with a new door and was all done and dusted before 9am! Won't be pulling the door like that again!

OP posts:
BlueBrightBlue · 24/09/2014 21:16

My pathetic ex once opened the door before the 4 minute " thingy" time out . Engineer fixed it ( and muttered under his breath he was a twat, which he was and still is)
Next time it happened I fixed it myself for under £4.
