Removing permanent pen ink stains

6yo DS has been back at school less than 2 weeks and already wrecked 3 new school polo shirts with enthusiastic use of the non-washable (FFS!) writing pens they have at school.

I have soaked in Vanish and washed with Vanish but the stains haven't budged even a little bit. Any tips? Other than waiting until the weather turns cold and he starts wearing jumpers so we can hide the stains...

Stain devils used to do a remover for ink. Not sure if methylated spirits would get it out, dab on & soak up with kitchen roll to absorb the stain. Soak on biological powder then wash again.
