Off we go again...

OP posts:
Bucketsofdinosaurs · 25/09/2006 13:20

I was going to suggest we do an office area zone actually once Flylady starts repeating herself (would that get you off the hook Tortoise? ). Where we all set up new organisation systems and holepunch/file/chuck etc.
What other themes can we do? (We actually have a music room, bet she doesn't cover that! I don't have to clean it though as it's DH's playroom.)

ParanoidAndroid · 25/09/2006 13:31

Hi all - busy busy today. Firstly I got up early and made my son's picnic and gathered all the necessary bits together for his school trip.n THEN I discovered that the trip is not actually until NEXT Monday grrrrr Kids thought it v. funny, dh was just exasperated and asked how I ever used to hold down a job

Then I've been to pilates and - um not sure how to put this - found that my pelvic floor aint quite so strong as I thought it was

And now I've had lunch (the sandwich that I had made for DS) and have eaten a bar of chocolate when I really really shouldn't.

And now I'm sitting on the pc desperately lacking motivation.

I'll go and do 15 mins in the sitting room and see if that works.

Regarding other rooms, yes an office would be a great idea - we actually have a box room which the kids and I use for the pc and home filing stuff. Then we have a garden office which DH uses and I have half of it as my studio so I can paint in peace. Well, that's the theory. The reality is that I don't seem to have enough time to paint, and even when I do, I have to clear loads of DH's stuff out of the way first!!!

Barefoot - what a fab cake! And Tortoise - thanks for the recipe for the cookies - we'll get making some later!

QP - hope all is okay. I've not had a chance to read through all the messages from the weekend but I gather things aren't brilliant. Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick!

Skribble · 25/09/2006 14:15

Hi all, not doing well today, second load in dryer, beds airing , sink shining, not done any home fixing (blessing) or zone stuff yet due to an early phone call realating to \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?rn=38200&topicid=1012&threadid=218734&redir=38200}. Its amazing how things creep up on you and how when you say yes to one thing the job just grows. Any ideas appreciated.

I will attempt Kelly's mission, weel I might get the kids to do it, timer makes them do anything. Might do the monday home fixing bit later if a manage to get a quote together soon. He is phoning back later for my ideas so get thinking. Can we have an argh emotion pleas somewhere between [shock and .

Skribble · 25/09/2006 14:15

argh!!! this

asleep · 25/09/2006 14:36

oh my, you've been busy posting today! got to catch up. i hadn't even read kelly's mission yet!

today i cleaned the oven. my fingers are hurting from scrubbing off the grease. ordered DP to never ever let it get that bad again and that we clean trays straight away. buying some new ones tomorrow.

and i sorted out our cd collection. all cds are in the right cases and {gulp} alphabetised! funny, as i rarely listen to cds nowadays. DP is the one who does, in the car.

must stop blaming DP for all the mess

Skribble · 25/09/2006 14:52

CD's will be a major task as they are spread everywhere job for DH me thinks.

asleep · 25/09/2006 14:55

i've got a huge stack of cds that will be sold on ebay & amazon. found one that's going for £25 on it's own!

mummy2ashton · 25/09/2006 16:04

Afternoon all! Had fun watching the harvest festival and joining in the songs!
Went to the park afterwards with the girls. It was lovely.Just the 3 of us in a silent playground having fun and laughter in the sun!

Then come home to find sw had phoned and wants to come round at 9am so girls can meet the new person supervising contact with xp2.

Just going to do my tea then need to do some FLYing!

hazelnuts · 25/09/2006 17:30

Afternoon All. DS2 had a great afternoon at school. Hes going for lunch onwards tomorrow. (already has got his lunch box out and put some bits in it!) Just made some cookies and I have made a chicken and veg pie for tea , and its all cooking now. I have a tidy computer desk, just the paper work on there that I need to sort. I am going to try and tidy round the tv unit, wires everywhere behind it, so I am going to see if I can sort them out. xp2 did do it but I moved the tv around for xmas, then just pushed it back after The dust behind there. I need a dust mask

shazronnieWEARINGSHOES · 25/09/2006 17:43

i let the DSs get the playdoh out in the lounge today - good job i haven't hoovered yet!

mummyhill · 25/09/2006 17:44

Living room looks fairly good now so I think I will try a detailed cleaning list in here tomorrow.

tortoise · 25/09/2006 17:44

Oh no!Not playdoh! We always end up with it stamped into the carpet!

hazelnuts · 25/09/2006 18:12

Playdoh! My Ds2 (was 2 then) want to eat it the last time I had the playdoh! With DD I wont get it out anymore. DSs help when I make pastry.
I am going to leave the tv until tomorrow. I have cleaned off all the bits I have around it and cleaned them.
Dc bathed and now tea is nearly ready A bit late tonight

tortoise · 25/09/2006 19:11

Ah peace at last!
I have the bath running and i hope tonight dd2 wil let me do my exercise DVD! I need to lose the fat!
Had salad for tea.Feel full still but those darn cookies are saying "eat me" again.Im not going to give in though!

Skribble · 25/09/2006 19:12

I got kids to do Kelly's mission, its amazing what they will do when up against a timer and each other. I gave them a box each and challenged them to find as many things in the living room that belonged to them and shouldn't be in there. I did a pile of stuff too that shouldn't be there, did as much in 2 min racing the kids as I would have mooching around on my own.

After putting all that away they were desperate to play Mucky Sock Sock. Had to use a pair of DH's decent socks as I threw away aqll the old ones last week. Light spray of some orange cleaner on each sock and we did 2 minutes in each room, I followed with a duster to do the covings and door tops. Idea in case you haven't heard of Mucky Sock Sock is for the kids to get the sock as mucky as possible. You shout out helpful things like "Under the sofa Socky loads of muck there" After each room they get to hang socky out the door or window and beat him senseless against the wall.

After all that excitment I gathered up all the rubbish from each bin and put out he paer for recycling.

Then I remembered I better make some dinner .

hazelnuts · 25/09/2006 19:39

Cookies are doing that here too tortoise DC have had 1 each, I have not yet, still over full from tea. My pie was very yummy (even if I do say so myself )

Just DS1 up and hes going to bed soon.

I like the "Mucky Sock Sock" Skribble

shazronnieWEARINGSHOES · 25/09/2006 20:09

it's much more fun cleaning in skribbles's house!

I hoovered and shampooed the lounge carpet this evening so i am knackered!

then I disconnected the washing machine as a new one is being delivered tomorrow - and i had to wipe loads of gross muck from the floor.

SusiS · 25/09/2006 20:39

evening! you are right - it does sound like fun cleaning in skribbles house

had a rather good day today. after my 2 hour marathon in the loung we took the kids swimming - was great fun! - didn't do anything since.
dinner = pizza and boxes are already outside in the recycling bin

even dp did 10min in his office - it seriously is THE hotspot in the house!!!
told him about fl today and he thought it's a good idea - let's see if he still agrees after 10min each (!) day

i like the idea of 'new' zones - deffinitly an office zone!!

aaargh@playdough! ds loves it but i try to avoid it as often as possible - had it out today

Skribble · 25/09/2006 20:42

You know you have cracked something when your 6 and 9 yr old are begging to dust .

They are doing really well at putting their clothes away too. I have started putting all there stuff on a step each on the stairs nad they know they have to take it up.

I have let up trying to get them to tidy their rooms as all the other rooms are just as messy, but the time is coming soon when they will have to get down to it, DS is great but DD is rubbish and just sits on her bed in the huff. Like mother like daughter .

SusiS · 25/09/2006 20:52

my 2yr ds does take his shoes off and always puts them away - you are right, we must do something right

i've put folded clothes on the chair next to the stairs for months and dp never (!) had the idea to take them upstairs!! i guess i'll have to work on that one ...

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 25/09/2006 20:58

Skribble you're a genius, was wondering what I'll use for rags when DS's old bibs get too rank. May even buy dh some cheap light-coloured socks as an investment in the future.
I dream of the day when the kids are both big enough to be the helpful birds and animals in that Disney scene. Is that Snow White? Don't have any Disney yet, they're all too scary for sensitive DD (3).

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 25/09/2006 21:00

DD LOVES our shoebucket since its invention last month and always puts hers away, bless her. I am loving it too actually, no more ransacking the house at the last minute.

Skribble · 25/09/2006 21:05

Kids also love the challenge of clearing and setting the table before I finish the dinner. We all sat up tonight candles and everything .

hazelnuts · 25/09/2006 21:08

Our shoes live by the frontdoor, Even DD (20 months) put hers there DS2 keeps the tv screen cleaned, He cleans it most days.
