How to hem jeans...

I tried this earlier on a pair of DH's jeans which needed taking up 2" and it was really effective!

I, too, have broken machine needles and almost knackered machine motors trying to sew through triple denim but with this method, I found I only needed to hand sew across the thickest triple depth hem.

I also tacked the trailing upper fold in place, too.

I've hemmed jeans by cutting off the excess, zigzagging the raw edge and just sewing the turned up edge, i.e. not folding the fabric over on itself, but that looks like a decent way of doing things.
