Steam Cleaners - the new rock and roll?

A couple of my friends have bought these recently. Would you recommend a steam cleaner? I've been browsing them on ebay and I didn't realise you can clean the kitchen floor and ordinary surfaces with them

Are they effective on mattesses too? Or can nothing penetrate that deep. (ooer!)

Any steam cleaner stories and recommendations welcome.

Wait a few months and see if your friends still use theirs - one of them may be ready to hand it over.

Same theory applies to slow cookers by the way
My steam cleaner is too small to handle large areas.

I have one. Is great for small areas but not good over big ones. HAve to say that I have abandoned it on the oven and gone back to oven cleaner though is great for round taps and best places, for cleaning washing machine drawer when clogged or quickly defrosting the freezer.

love mine - fantasic use the steam on over dry cotten and it irons a treat. grear for getting into those really hard to get to places. sanitises, uses it on leather etc. I have a big cleaner the polti vaporetto lux. cant live without it.
